Last weekend’s Father’s Day celebrations make this article from the Chicago Sun Times very timely indeed. A recent study from the University of Connecticut shows that fathers contribute at least as much as mothers to a child’s development. According to this research, paternal involvement is crucial in building a child's self-esteem building and fostering a child’s ability to create healthy relationships. Perhaps it’s time to rethink the media stereotypes of the over-worked mother and the hapless father.
